the interwebs is forever
Just googled myself to see if this blog is showing up. What do I find but two posts to a fairly obscure mailing list from years ago. In one post I was referring to my experiences with one of my clients in an anonymised manner. The other was asking for help with another client's problem also carefully worded. In conversation with others outside my direct team in order to protect my client's security I never identify them by name or use any details that could uniquely identify them. However on the web now with archiving of mail lists as well as forum posts there is potentially the opportunity to put the pieces together. Thanks google, now I have to employ counter intelligence as I don't wish to adopt a psuedonymn, that's sooo 90s 31337 :)

Google reader and AISA branch executive
Hello there,
I'm more about doing than talking about what I'm doing so this blog may be short and sweet!
Have been putting some RSS feeds into Google reader so I can share them with my colleagues at their leisure. Hopefully bringing a bit of the AISA Newsbites flavour back :)
I'm standing again for AISA branch executive on the following platform:
• Focus on the quality and relevance of content at AISA chapter meetings by:
Plan all topics for AISA meetings a year ahead and establish a pool of potential speakers for each topic
Approach sponsors of relevance to the topics well in advance
• Do all I can to attract security professionals embedded in organisations (e.g. security analysts, security managers, security executives) to participate in AISA. This will make meetings and membership of the association beneficial to all stakeholders including students, job seekers and security consultants. This can be undertaken by:
Approaching security executives in institutions to support AISA amongst their employees
Word of mouth through security consulting firms and companies
• Continue to persevere with attempting to connect with academia to capture the next generation of info-sec professionals by:
Approaching university lecturers to allow us to present at information security and IT courses at universities about the information security profession
Approaching universities for the ability to participate in career open days without usual costs that are associated
Establish a relationship with SECIA of co-operation that does not include membership of SECIA (and associated costs)
• Help drive re-invigoration of the AISA web site by providing ideas and content such as:
Blog of the activities of the Melbourne Committee and Branch Executive
• Help assist members with their professional development aspirations especially in the are of CISSP certification
